There are many things that you should consider when searching for your first home, such as:

When starting your search for your first home the two major people you should be talking to are

1) a REALTOR® and
2) a mortgage agent.

It is very beneficial to talk to a mortgage agent prior to/during your search for your home. They will be able to tell you exactly what you can afford so that you are not looking at homes outside of your price range.

There are also some government programs available to first-time-homebuyers, which include:

• A first time homebuyer tax refund and
• a land transfer tax rebate.

For first-time home buyers now is less expensive to get into the market as there are a few government incentives to help you out. With programs such as the First-Time Home Buyers Tax Credit and the Land Transfer Tax Refund the government is doing its part to help you get into your first home.

Change your address.
There will like be many places you will need to change your address, here is a list of a few common ones:

This is just to ensure that you get all of your mail. To redirect your mail, visit your local post office (or the post office in Kincardine, at 261 Durham St.) or go online.

When moving to Kincardine you will likely need to go to the post office to receive a key for a mail box near your new home where you will be receiving your mail.

Get your bag tags and Blue Box
You can get these from the municipal offices on Concession 5, between HWY 21 and Bruce Road 23. The Municipality of Kincardine gives 26 free bag tags per year. For other municipal information visit their website.

The Kincardine Tourism website has information on different events and things to do in the area. The tourism office is located on Hwy 21 North, past the Home Hardware and beside the KFC.
